A Shurugwi business man might have recently duped ZIMRA thousands of dollars after it emerged that he smuggled 11 Fun Cargo’s into the country.

Hardlife Matemera who owns the vehicles which are already plying RB-Town route in Shurugwi speaking with H Metro yesterday denied the allegations saying it is mere jealous from neighbours.

Matemera actually boasted of enlarging his business empire with the illegal Mushikashika taxis saying, “I hope soon l will import nine more to make the cars 20 so that my business…”

“I own six vehicles the other five belong to my brother as it stands l sold my Toyota Hilux as well as doing a pig poultry project which made my funds sufficient.

“How can l smuggle a Fun Cargo which costs a mere $ 1 400 declaration duty fee. People are just jealous of me, you can actually contact my car dealer agents in Harare,” he said.

H Metro interviewed Pikai Chiimba the car dealer.

“People talk what they want as far as l knows the process was done above board. If you approach ZIMRA they will give you finer details,” he said.

Efforts to contact ZIMRA spokesperson were futile as his phone numbers were unanswered.
