The Zimbabwe Republic Police say they will continue to investigate allegations of rape
against some members of the security forces.
This comes in the wake of five women who reported through a local non-governmental organisation more than a month after the alleged offence.
The women are alleging to have been raped during the disturbances which occurred in January.
Police chief spokesperson Commissioner Charity Charamba says the police will continue to investigate all cases to ensure finality.
Zimbabwean stakeholders are on record calling for all the alleged victims to come forward and report.
In Zimbabwe, there are many channels of reporting rape and the police victim friendly unit is one of the first ports of call while hospitals and clinics have facilities that offer post exposure prophylaxis to prevent HIV infections.
The situation on the ground indicates that none of the alleged victims approached these centres up until a local NGO brought them to police more than a month after the alleged offence.
